About — The artist

Steven Patrick Morrissey, known as Morrissey [ˈmɒrɪsiː], sometimes abbreviated to “Moz”, born on 22 May 1959 in Davyhulme, in the metropolitan borough of Trafford, is a British singer, lyricist, and author.

He rose to fame as the frontman and singer of The Smiths, who were active from 1982 to 1987. When the band split, he embarked on a solo career.

Morrissey's music is recognisable by his baritone voice and his lyrics, which frequently address themes such as loneliness, romantic desire, depression, self-deprecation, and dark humour.
