About — The artist
Orange Blossom is a French electronic and world music group, formed in Nantes in 1993 by Pierre-Jean Chabot (violin) and Jean-Christophe Waechter (percussion and vocals). The band takes its name from the violin piece “Orange Blossom Special” by Ervin Rouse and Chubby Wise.
In 1995, Carlos Robles Arenas (drums, djembe, sampling) joined the band. Their first record, Orange Blossom, was released in 1997 on Prikosnovénie. Before their second album, the band drew inspiration from ethnic and traditional music, collaborating with artists such as Yelemba D'Abidjan and Ganoub. Jay C. left the band in 2000. In 2002, Mathias Vaguenez (percussion) and Leïla Bounous (vocals) joined the band. The album Everything Must Change was released in 2005 on Bonsaï Music.
Leïla Bounous left the band and was replaced by Hend El Rawy (Egypt) in 2014. Their third album, Under the Shade of Violets, was released in 2014. Most of the band's songs are sung in Arabic.
