About — The artist
Saint Etienne is an English group formed in London, made up of Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, moving between electronic music and independent pop. The group's name refers to AS Saint-Étienne, a French football club particularly famous in the 1970s.
Known for its extensive use of samples and its many changes of style over the years, the group has released twelve albums between 1990 and 2025, the first of which, Foxbase Alpha (1990), appears in Les 1001 albums qu'il faut avoir écoutés dans sa vie.
