About — The artist
The Boo Radleys are a British shoegazing and Britpop band, originally from Wallasey, near the mouth of the Mersey, opposite Liverpool.
Formed in 1988, the band takes its name from the character Boo Radley in Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird.
The founding members are Martin Carr (guitar/vocals), Sice (Simon Rowbottom - guitar/vocals), Timothy Brown (bass), and Steve Hewitt, who later became Placebo's drummer. Hewitt was replaced in 1990 by Rob Cieka after the recording of their first album Ichabod and I (Action Record, 1990).
In 1992, The Boo Radleys released their second album on Creation Records, Everything's Alright Forever, followed in 1993 by Giant Steps.
1995 saw the release of the very pop-oriented Wake Up Boo! which established The Boo Radleys as a benchmark for 1990s indie sound.
They disbanded in 1999 before reforming in 2021.
