About — The artist
The Ex is an experimental post-punk band from Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. Originally punk and anarchist, the group has evolved and explored many other horizons, including jazz, improvised music, African music and noise rock, notably thanks to its numerous collaborations. It has nonetheless remained strongly committed to politics, after 36 years of career, some 1,250 concerts across Europe and more than 20 albums. In its usual line-up, the band consists of Terrie Hessels and Andy Moor (guitars and baritone guitars), Arnold de Boer (guitar and vocals) and Katherina Bornefeld (drums, vocals and percussion). The Ex is constantly developing and remains open to new ideas and collaborations. Bands such as Sonic Youth and Fugazi regard them as a major influence.
