About — The artist
The Wallflowers are an American rock band, from Los Angeles, California, founded in 1989. They are made up of Jakob Dylan (guitar and vocals), Rami Jaffee (piano and Hammond B3 organ), Greg Richling (bass), Jack Irons (drums) and Stuart Mathis (guitar). They have released six studio albums, one compilation, and have had several songs featured on television and in films. They won two Grammy Awards, for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, and Best Rock Song, for their song One Headlight in 1998.
They were pioneers of the 1990s rock 'n' roll revival. The Wallflowers established themselves on the American and world scene. Jakob Dylan, the essence of the band, has a widely recognised poetic sensibility. Some Wallflowers tracks: Sleepwalker, 6th Avenue Heartache, One Headlight, Ashes to Ashes, Empire in My Mind, When You're on Top, I've Been Delivered, Heroes (a David Bowie cover), Letters from the Wasteland, Beautiful Side of Somewhere and Closer 2 You. The Wallflowers also appear on the soundtrack of the film Godzilla with Heroes, a cover that is less elaborate but more rock than David Bowie's original. The Wallflowers' main influences are Tom Petty, The Clash, Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello.
