Tori Kelly, born Victoria Loren Kelly on December 14, 1992, in Wildomar, is an American R&B and gospel singer-songwriter of Puerto Rican and Jamaican descent (through her father) as well as German and Irish descent (through her mother).
Recognised thanks to her videos posted on YouTube, she participated in the ninth season of American Idol and, in 2012, at the age of 19, released her first EP, which she self-produced, wrote, and mixed. Scooter Braun became her manager the following year, known for also managing artists such as Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. She released her second EP Foreword in the same year under the official Capitol Records label, with whom she signed a contract. Her first album, released on June 23, 2015 (October 16 in France), is titled Unbreakable Smile, featuring the singles Nobody Love and Should've Been Us.
Nominated in the Best New Artist category at the 58th Grammy Awards, Tori lent her voice to the character of Meena, an elephant overcome by stage fright in the film Sing, released on January 25, 2017, in France.
