1 brings a luminous contrast: the clarinet asserts itself as a full solo voice, and Pierre Génisson reveals all its expressive breadth with eloquence. Beethoven's Symphony No.
8 concludes the program on an unexpected note: not triumphant heroism, but freedom of form played with irony and mischief. At the baton, Raphaël Merlin – long cellist of the Ebène Quartet, now leading the Chamber Orchestra of Geneva.
