A passionate admirer of Charpentier's music, to which he has dedicated around ten recordings with Le Concert Spirituel over nearly forty years, Hervé Niquet has decided to revive his sacred works. And what a luxury! By recreating a concert that only Louis XIV could afford to produce at the time, Le Concert Spirituel and the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles rekindle the splendour of Versailles by bringing together Charpentier's Roman and Italian music. With an octet of soloists, a double orchestra, and a double choir, this trilogy brings together sixty-three artists in unison. And the conductor warns us: "you have to be a little mad to do this, to reproduce this exceptional acoustic rendering, which makes Heaven and Earth communicate. I have been working on Charpentier for a long time and today I understand him very quickly, I decipher his mathematics: when you pay attention to his rhythm and his metrics, the music emerges by itself. "
