This chaotic set reflects the spirit of this hybrid and unsettling show that goes out to meet today's young bullfighters.
Teetering between autobiography and documentary, Jean-Baptiste Tur, co-founder of the company Le Grand Cerf Bleu, embraces his favourite creative tools – a theatre plugged into its intuitions, live music and cinema to track down reality – and mischievously crafts a tale of flight and return to Occitan lands.
Stripping bare and tragedy, bullfighting and its ritual power infuse this incandescent, musical show. The point is not to rehabilitate a controversial and problematic practice, but to question it as a ritual and a tradition.
