Overview
Ellen BabicMarius von Mayenburg / Patrick Pineau / Constance DolléTheatre Salle Tardieu Running time 1h35Is truth soluble in desire? A claustrophobic thriller laden with explosive unspoken words, orchestrated in a single continuous shot by a master of contemporary German drama.
Despite the reluctance of her partner, a schoolteacher prepares to welcome into her home the headteacher of her school, a shady man with enigmatic intentions. Very quickly, as the boundaries between the intimate and the professional blur, unease settles in.
What is he so urgently wanting to discuss with her? To what end? Both role-play and strategy game, the evening oscillates between the muted precision of a chess match and the violence of a boxing bout. Under the blows and attacks, the masks crack.
A claustrophobic thriller laden with explosive unspoken words, orchestrated in a single continuous shot by a master of contemporary German drama, staged for this French production by a cast with a striking chemistry.
