This was the case with a dazzling performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the National Orchestra in 2020, followed by his first recitals at the Roque-d'Anthéron festival, the Philharmonie de Paris and here at the venue.
This season he is taking on the challenge of performing Rachmaninov's complete piano works across three recitals. For this second instalment, he has chosen to set Rachmaninov and Moussorgski in dialogue.
There are no Pictures at an Exhibition here, but instead Préludes and Études-tableaux that are rarely heard in concert. Production Piano****
