October 2025. Ten years after finishing just off the podium, an already more than honourable result, Eric Lu emerges victorious from the prestigious Chopin Competition. The first American to triumph in Warsaw, he is also the only one to have won a prize in two different editions. In addition to a second half of the evening logically dedicated to the great Frédéric, the one whom BBC Music Magazine sees as the new Radu Lupu comes to us accompanied by his favourite composer: Schubert. He will explore four Impromptus, which he considers “the most precious jewels of piano literature”. The programme will begin with Brahms’s own transcription of the second movement of his String Sextet No. 1. In 1860, Clara Schumann could not have wished for a more beautiful birthday gift.
