Does Sganarelle want to beat his wife? She takes her revenge, and our woodcutter becomes a doctor in spite of himself to avoid a good thrashing.

As often, Molière, in attacking medicine, denounces charlatanism, mocks credulity... and criticises a certain religion. And it is undoubtedly for this reason that Le Médecin malgré lui is one of his most beautiful and richest farces.

To show Man to Man and to show him how eternal and laughable his flaws are, to hold a mirror up to the spectator, to touch them through laughter or emotion in the face of living beings and – oh, Molière's genius – so current, embodied characters and not puppets, men and women, finally, as they are in their funniness and their humanity.
