Overview
Méli-mélo Oratoire Librement Inspiré d’Errances dans le Répertoire de l’Eponyme is a clever acronym for MOLIERE. And it is all in clever touches that this show traces his life and work. We see how Jean-Baptiste Poquelin refuses his destiny as an upholsterer to become an actor.
Among others we encounter his father, Louis XIV, Lully, the young Jean Racine, his troupe companions, doctors… And to retrace, in a very subjective (though well-informed) way, Jean-Baptiste's journey, these figures draw their words from the characters of Molière's plays.
Thus, the accounts of his life take on colourful reflections in the brilliance of scenes from his works.
Three actors and a musician throw themselves with joy, passion, mischief, folly and force into the life and work of the man who was without doubt the most joyful, the most passionate, the most mischievous, the most foolish and the most forceful of all people of the stage.
Mandatory credits: A production by Compagnie Grand Tigre, in co-production with the Théâtre Maurice Sand in La Châtre (36), with creation support from the Centre-Val de Loire Region.
