Mourad Benhammou & His Soulful Drums

Mourad Benhammou & His Soulful Drums take over the stage for an evening dedicated to R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae.

The project led by drummer Mourad Benhammou explores the roots of African-American and Caribbean music. Accompanied by His Soulful Drums, the ensemble delivers a repertoire with multiple influences, navigating between the precision of funk groove, the fervour of gospel harmonies and the flexibility of reggae rhythms. This formation highlights meticulous rhythmic work, inherited from the tradition of jazz and great rhythm and blues orchestras, where each instrument dialogues with percussion.

On stage, the group deploys a collective energy built around improvisation and interaction with the public. Compositions and covers follow one another during a generous set, tailored for live performance. The layout of the Caveau de la Huchette offers direct proximity to the musicians, allowing audiences to appreciate the dynamics of this acoustic and electric formation. This concert is aimed as much at fans of vocal jazz and soul as it is at enthusiasts of dancing and organic grooves.
