Comme de choses vraies by Ikram Benchrif and Paul Girard

Since 2022, the duo from 23chemin has been immersing themselves in the heart of life in the Bois de Vincennes. Blending dance, storytelling, and documentary, Comme de choses vraies is the delicate fruit of an encounter with men living in the woods. On stage, seven bodies attempt an encounter. With humour, violence, and philosophical questions, they unfold living tableaux, a succession of simple actions revealing dreamed or lost landscapes. Comme de choses vraies is a choreographic documentary tale where the fairies are men who have lived in tents, for anywhere between one month and 19 years. These performers, both witnesses and fabulists, attempt to reveal the home of their bodies. This piece was born from an encounter in the world and a desire for a fable. Resulting from a long-term companionship with several inhabitants of the Bois de Vincennes, Comme de choses vraies extends the artistic research of Ikram Benchrif, director and filmmaker, and Paul Girard, dancer and choreographer, around the body as a living archive.
