Set to a choreographic score written in reverse, Monday unfolds movement backwards. A fascinating quartet that interweaves trace, future, and reconstruction in a single artistic gesture, inviting us to consider the weight of our decisions. As if the piece were rewinding live, here the four performers execute their movements in reverse. This radical inversion results in an extreme physicality which, combined with the choreographic precision of the Dutch artist, instils a dynamic of increasing intensity. Bends, imbalances, repetitions, rhythm breaks, and unexpected vocal twists: everything conspires to defy the laws of gravity and the rules of art. Starting from the trace to go back to the original gesture, the one that generates others, Arno Schuitemaker invites us to consider the weight of our decisions and their consequences. And to see in dance a platform of energy where other futures are invented.
