SEATED CONCERT - Free seating. After more than ten years of a discreet but remarkable career in contemporary folk, Alela Diane returns on May 22 with Who's Keeping Time? (Fluff & Gravy / Loose Music).

Her seventh album was born from a blend of intuition, coincidence and collective momentum. The death of folk legend Michael Hurley last April deeply moved the artist.

By participating in a tribute concert, she finds in this shared grief new inspiration: reconnecting with music and her community. After several solo projects, she feels the need to create collaboratively and composes new songs in her house attic.

At Clay Street Studios, she surrounds herself with drummer Danny Austin-Manning, co-producer Sam Weber and bassist Sebastian Owens. Together, they record fifteen tracks live in less than five days.

Several artists, including Anna Tivel, Peter Lalish and other musicians from the Pacific Northwest, come to enrich the album. The final album, composed of 11 tracks, oscillates between softness, intensity and cinematic soaring.

Alela Diane's voice emerges more vibrant than ever, carried by lyrics that testify to a rare ability to traverse pain with precision. Praised by media like Pitchfork, NPR Music and The Guardian, she establishes herself as an essential figure in contemporary folk.
