Overview
Dancing until exhaustion, dancing the borders, dancing trance: Taoufiq Izeddiou blends gnaoua, flamenco and everyday gestures in a work as spiritual as it is political!
30pm and Saturday 24 April 2027 at 5pm / Tickets €11 to €22 Gnaoua, flamenco and auteur dance reinvent the exchange of energies, rhythms and gestures between tradition and modernity.
Presented by the figurehead of Marrakech, who presents Border Dance along with a new generation of Moroccan women choreographers.
Dancing at the border, dancing the borders: those between the Arab world and Europe, between Gnaoua culture and flamenco, between contemporary dance and traditional worlds.
Taoufiq Izeddiou's universe unfolds from everyday gestures and actions, to create a current dance rooted in what founds a culture, from work to dance.
In this permeable zone, the pioneer of Moroccan contemporary dance brings together six professional performers and about ten amateurs, renewed in each city that hosts Border Dance.
His new creation weaves a link with spirituality, the building of a community and the sources of trance, exploring the energy of a repetitive dance to the point of exhaustion.
30pm / Tickets €5 to €10 Founder of the On Marche festival in Marrakech, Taoufiq Izeddiou also invites the young Moroccan choreographic scene whose female artistic emergence is revealed at the Taklif competition, a platform dedicated to young Moroccan artists.
Between the intimate and the political, memories and resistances, the laureates of the Prix Taklif – awarded at the On Marche festival with the support of the Carreau du Temple – question their future as much as they challenge us in our presents and imaginations.
