While keeping Molière's original text, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme is a modern play whose adaptation overturns the conventions of the genre and of the form. The production, with its urban and contemporary codes, offers a timeless reading of both Molière's language and his purpose. Accessible to all audiences, younger spectators can recognise themselves and identify with some of the characters on stage. The 11 actors serve the whimsical spirit of this Bourgeois who imagines becoming a Gentleman and who, with laughable clumsiness, practises dance and music and dabbles in philosophy with the curiosity of a child.
