Jean-François Zygel

Virtuosity, a sense of colour, fantasy, humour and imagination will be the watchwords of this exceptional concert by the most celebrated of French improvising pianists, in homage to the great Romantic composer.

Drawing on his rhythmic energy, his pianistic heroism and his powerful, clearly drawn themes, Jean-François Zygel imagines for us a true recital of improvisations, as Beethoven himself practised them until the end of his life before his beloved Viennese audience.

Jean-François Zygel occupies a wholly singular place in French musical creation. Reinventing the art of the piano through improvisation and through his conception of the concert as a genuine spectacle, he makes each of his performances a unique and unexpected event.

"A surprising and original concert by a virtuoso loved by all, an improviser of genius, whose humour and imagination have won over the audience" Télérama
