Joséphine Baker, le musical

Joséphine Baker, the musical. Her life is a novel, and this show is its light! The moving, festive musical story of one of the most inspiring women of the 20th century, carried by a troupe of eight dazzling performers who bring her back to life as if by magic!

Married at 13, born in the Black ghetto of Missouri, the young Joséphine arrives in France and becomes an icon of Parisian high society in the Roaring Twenties.

She joins the Resistance and comes to embody the great universal woman recently honoured at the Panthéon… “Joséphine Baker, the musical” rediscovers for us the dazzling artist, whose talents as a dancer and singer were extraordinary, and a forerunner of hip hop.

The show also reveals the romantic life of this free and committed woman.

We meet her partners (Gabin), her lovers (Paul Colin, Pépito), her husbands (Willie Baker, Jo Bouillon) and the heroes who, like her, do not hesitate to put their lives at risk to save Jews and thwart the plans of the Nazis.

She campaigned all her life against racial segregation, joining Martin Luther King Jr and adopting 12 children of every origin to create her rainbow tribe. Beautiful choreographed scenes in dazzling period costumes!!!
