Michelle's seventh album, recorded in her bedroom and titled *It Was the Moment*, will not disappoint those who are waiting for a new soundtrack to accompany their melancholy and nostalgia.

It may even be her most vulnerable and expressive work to date, which is hardly surprising, since it was written and produced during a period of mourning and mental instability.

These songs reveal a new level of emotional abandon, confirming her place in the lineage of dramatic songwriters.

The themes explored include a fatalistic surrender to passion, the fleeting nature of encounters, the loss of her mother and of her home, the end of days, and the loss of reason in its best and worst manifestations.

Michelle deploys her full sonic palette here, from dark realism in the manner of Lynch, to refined humour, through to the role of queen of epic melodrama.

With concerts regularly sold out in cities such as Istanbul, Berlin, Warsaw and Athens, Michelle has carved out a niche that embraces the Eastern European diaspora, the Berlin queer scene and those who appreciate the melodramatic ballads of Charles Aznavour, Zeki Müren and Nikolai Slichenko.

While her concerts now feature more live elements and a band of musicians, she continues to self-produce and release her own albums, thereby preserving an intimacy and singularity of expression – from her bedroom to yours.
