Overview
Presented by Le Baiser Salé - 1-016846 / 2-016877 / 3-0187Led by pianist Ruddy Boa, this project is an invitation to discover or rediscover Gwo-Ka, an emblematic rhythm of Guadeloupe, in a new light.
Following "Tribute to Lockel & GwoKa Modèn", this concert extends a musical adventure that began in 1969, when Gérard Lockel brought the Ka drum onto the stage of the Cinéma-Théâtre Le Plaza.
A revolution: GwoKa then left its traditional framework to become a source of boundless inspiration. With "Echoes of the Plaza: GwoKa Resonance", Ruddy Boa and his musicians push the boundaries even further.
Between original compositions and tributes to major figures such as Robert Oumaou (GwaKaSonné) or Kafé, this project blends GwoKa with other musical worlds: the contemporary jazz of Kris Davis, Vijay Iyer and Danilo Pérez.
A rare opportunity to also (re)discover the Karuka, a unique instrument created by Ruddy Boa in homage to Gérard Lockel's Gwadlouka. A vibrant experience, where tradition and modernity meet to create an unforgettable resonance.
