An exhibition created from the eponymous book by Céline Malraux.
Madeleine Lioux was born into music. A path of excellence led her at the age of fourteen from the Toulouse conservatory to Marguerite Long's class at the Paris conservatory, yet it would be deeply shaped by the major moments of 20th-century history.
This is also the deeply endearing journey of a woman attentive to her children, who were scarred by war, and it speaks volumes about the energy, courage, and talent required to fulfill a career as a professional musician when you are a woman—and not simply someone's wife.
This exhibition has been put together based on the eponymous book by Céline Malraux and is enriched with period documents. The book, republished in autumn 2026, will be presented by Céline Malraux and Manon Landowski on Thursday 3 December at the Bibliothèque André Malraux.
This event has been awarded the 'Cinquantenaire André Malraux' label by the Ministry of Culture and is part of the 'Monte le son 2026' programme of the Libraries of the City of Paris.
