West Side Story

Neïma Naouri, Pablo Campos and The Amazing Keystone Big Band revisit the melodies of West Side Story in a concert blending jazz, soul and funk.

Leonard Bernstein's original score for West Side Story is reimagined by The Amazing Keystone Big Band, an ensemble known for its orchestral arrangements and its reinterpretations of great repertoire. On stage, the instrumental ensemble is joined by lyric artist and jazz singer Neïma Naouri, as well as pianist Pablo Campos, to explore the timeless themes of this musical through the prism of African-American music. The influences of soul, funk, gospel and reggae run through the arrangements presented during this concert, offering a fresh take on the New York melodies.

On stage, the full orchestra unleashes a collective energy in which the precision of orchestral writing meets the space given to improvisation. Neïma Naouri's voice moves between the demands of lyric singing and the freedom of jazz interpretation, supported by Pablo Campos's playing and the instrumental density of the Big Band. The evening is aimed at lovers of orchestral jazz and crossover vocal repertoire, eager to hear these classic themes from a renewed angle in the main hall of the Opéra de Massy.
