André Rieu, born on October 1, 1949, in Maastricht (Netherlands), is a Dutch violinist, conductor, arranger, music producer, and founder of the Johann Strauss Orchestra, specialising in waltzes. Rieu and his orchestra perform worldwide, including in stadiums. His interpretations of popular classical works have earned him international renown.
In Maastricht, he regularly gives concerts at the Vrijthof, which are filmed and broadcast on YouTube, and his channel boasts 3.9 billion views, a record for classical music. André Rieu has sold over 40 million CDs and DVDs worldwide.
