About — The artist
Frédéric Vaysse-Knitter is a French pianist of Polish origin, born in 1975.
At the age of thirteen he entered the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, where he studied under masters Ventsislav Yankoff, Michel Béroff and Denis Pascal, earning a first prize in piano and chamber music and going on to the advanced performance programme.
He then had a decisive encounter with Krystian Zimerman, who advised and guided him in his choices. He joined the Musikhochschule Freiburg and earned the Soliste diploma. He went on to train with such musical authorities as György Sebők, Alexis Weissenberg, Alicia de Larrocha and Leon Fleisher at the Fondation Internationale du Lac de Côme.
His recording "Monsieur Satie, l'homme qui avait un petit piano dans la tête", text by Carl Norac, read by François Morel and illustrated by Élodie Nouhen, received a Grand Prix from the Académie Charles-Cros in 2006 and an ADAMI Prix Jeunesse.
