Peter and the Wolf (Pétia i volk, in Russian: Петя и волк) opus 67, is a didactic, pedagogical, allegorical symphonic tale for children, by the Russian composer-performer Sergei Prokofiev.

The tale recounts the story of Peter, a boy who, despite his grandfather's warnings, captures a wolf and saves his animal friends.

The music of Peter and the Wolf is famous for its use of musical themes associated with each character, such as a joyful tune for Peter and a menacing melody for the wolf. The tale is often used to teach children instrument recognition.

Peter and the Wolf was premiered in Moscow in 1936 and has been performed worldwide ever since. This tale is considered an important work in the history of children's music and one of Prokofiev's most famous works, and continues to be popular with young audiences.
