Placebo

Placebo (pronounced in English: [pləˈsiːbəʊ], [pləˈsiːboʊ]) is a British alternative rock band from London, England. It was formed in 1994 by Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal, initially accompanied by Robert Schultzberg until 1996, then Steve Hewitt until 2007, and Steve Forrest until 2015.

Placebo's musical style and lyrics are distinguished by an exacerbated romantic inclination. Once allied with provocative and excessive imagery feeding the band's edgy image, this exuberant romanticism now takes on a more introverted stance. Undergoing a gradual shift in its image and music, the band can be affiliated with punk rock in its early days, then alternative rock and power pop.

Placebo achieved international recognition, having sold over eleven million album copies worldwide by 2011, and is known to the general public for its hits Nancy Boy, Pure Morning, Every You Every Me, Special K, The Bitter End, Protège-moi, Meds, and Song to Say Goodbye, as well as covers such as Johnny and Mary (Robert Palmer) and Running Up that Hill (Kate Bush).

The band's eighth album Never Let Me Go was released on March 25, 2022. The first single Beautiful James was released on September 17, 2021.
