A l'Ombre d'un Vaste Détail, Hors Tempête

Presented by Le Théâtre du Merlan. A house, a ceremony, a bereavement. Projected words. A milky light, a white floor...

In keeping with his previous creations, Christian Rizzo opens the stage to the forces of abstraction, elevates the everyday, and dances a fiction that slips away before our eyes.

Set to a haunting organ score, a series of tableaux gracefully evoke the course of life and the passing of time. The dancers merge into a single body, only to break away again into rosettes, spirals, rises and imbalances.

We become drawn to the protective, delicate looks they exchange, to hands that lock together or rest tenderly on a shoulder. Their group forms, splits and reforms, filling the empty space with presences and ghosts.

Within this atmosphere of mutual attentiveness, there nonetheless hangs a kind of regret, the diffuse feeling of a paradise lost... A dance of the infinitesimal and the essential, in which every movement seems to hold on to something of the time slipping away.
