Angelin Preljocaj : Soulèvement

The collective energy of great gatherings fuels Angelin Preljocaj's creation.

In this new work, the choreographer draws inspiration from the spontaneous gatherings that bind individuals together in their civic impulses.

He explores the energy coursing through bodies, the modes of identification and the unspoken codes of those who commit to a common cause: where do these movements, which aspire to change the course of the world, come from?

Sit-ins, marches, breathless running and burning tears sometimes provoke that exhilaration of belonging to a new power, generating its share of encounters and love stories.

When popular movements become a vital necessity, when two glances meet in the crowd in a glimmer of hope, they can only move a choreographer who has been creating for forty years with dancers who, too, commit every day to a collective union.

At the heart of this creation rises a promise that binds together social and artistic utopias. Thomas Hahn
