Barbara's songs, at once personal and universal, become the very source of the movement. The world of the famous "dame brune" shaped Benjamin Millepied's childhood. The internationally renowned choreographer draws on this rich repertoire to create the material for his new show.
On a stage with luminous set design, several generations of performers cross the stage, in turn or all together, in successive waves, whirling to Barbara's delicate notes and voice.
As the melodies unfold, their sharp gestures and soaring movements sketch out the landscapes that run through the work of the "midnight singer": love, the dizziness of passion, solitude, absence and the wounds of childhood.
The man who once directed the Paris Opera signs a new, sensitive and vibrant creation where dance revives the shiver that runs across our skin on hearing these words: dites-le-moi du bout des lèvres…

Benjamin Millepied is a French dancer, choreographer and film director, born 10 June 1977 in Bordeaux. A principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, he directed dance at the Paris Opera from November 2014 to July 2016.
