Le roi et l'oiseau

Drawing on the texts of Prévert and the music of Wojciech Kilar, this adaptation takes the form of a sensitive and committed choreographic fable, accessible to all audiences.

A former soloist dancer with the Ballet Preljocaj, Émilie Lalande develops a choreographic language founded on the musicality of movement — "to see the music and hear the dance", in Balanchine's phrase — and on the richness of the interpretations offered to the spectator. She tells the story of this tyrannical king, obsessed with his power and enamoured of the portrait of a shepherdess. In this show, where poetry and imagination echo one another, Émilie Lalande invites us to celebrate freedom and never to give up wonder.
