In brief
His name is not yet familiar to Parisian music lovers, yet the young English conductor Finnegan Downie Dear already ranks among the most sought-after batons across Europe. In France, he attracted attention in the summer of 2025 with performances of Britten's Billy Budd, staged as The Story of Billy Budd at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, and revived this spring at the Opéra de Lyon. Very active in opera as well as in the symphonic repertoire, he is now the guest of Les Siècles for two of Beethoven's most popular symphonies.
