Overview
Guitarist Philippe Mouratoglou is renowned for the refinement of his playing and the curiosity of his programmes, blending great works of the repertoire with musical discoveries. A sought-after soloist and a passionate chamber musician, he explores the many colours of the guitar and invites the audience to travel across styles and cultures. With this programme, drawn in part from his latest album Arcane 17, he takes the listener on a musical journey around the world: from the Spain of Manuel de Falla and Joaquín Rodrigo to the soundscapes of Johann Kaspar Mertz, and on to the rhythms of Latin America and Cuba with Egberto Gismonti, Agustín Barrios Mangoré and Leo Brouwer. A vibrant voyage through the most inventive worlds of the guitar in the 20th century and beyond.
