Résonances : concert immersif à Notre-Dame

Designed for the exceptional setting of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, this programme explores the many dimensions of resonance: that of sound within architecture, that of works across time, and that of traditions handed down from one generation to the next.

Harmonic overtones, echoes, ostinatos and vast sheets of sound invite the listener into an experience of listening in which the music seems to fully inhabit the space.

Combining Gregorian chant with creations from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, this journey brings into dialogue worlds drawn from very different horizons.

The works of Maurice Ohana, Veljo Tormis, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Bob Chilcott and Sarah Hopkins extend and reinvent ancestral musical gestures, revealing the permanence of certain forms of spirituality and contemplation.

Led by the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris under the direction of Émilie Fleury, this immersive concert invites a wandering sonic journey in which music, silence and architecture answer one another within a single sensory experience.
