Once upon a time, there were three good fairy godmothers who worked tirelessly, leaning over cradles since the dawn of humanity. But lately, Mélusine, Carabosse, and Titania feel overwhelmed: current events are particularly depressing. Not to mention the unfair competition from the nightmare department, which has opened a “contemporary anxiety” section. Faced with staff reductions and budget cuts, the rate of magical workplace malaise has exploded. One evening, exhausted by a day of fairy labour, the three fairies closed their eyelids, just for a minute. But a minute was enough: they fell asleep. They fell asleep and forgot to lean over one cradle, just one cradle that would change everything. A child was born on the very top floor of the tallest tower, isolated in a forest of council flats. And when the fairies woke up, after a minute of sleep, fifteen years had passed in our world. This child, thought to be ordinary and without a story, had grown up in an adult world, surrounded by lies. And little by little, she had stopped dreaming.
