About — The artist
Groundation is an American roots reggae band originating from Sonoma in Northern California. They are frequently considered one of the most iconic bands of the 2000s reggae scene. The group's name originates from the Rastafari groundation ceremony.
Groundation has performed in over 35 countries across five continents. The band, which has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years, is still built around leader Harrison Stafford and continues to innovate with their 2018 studio album The Next Generation, which opens with a full jazz big band. This album won "Best Roots Reggae Album of 2018" from the specialized website Reggae.fr—beating out Ziggy Marley among others—as voted by more than 16,000 people from the media, the music industry, producers, and fans.
