About — The artist
The Orchestre national de Lille (or ONL, ONLille) is a French symphonic orchestra based in Lille, founded in 1976 by the French conductor Jean-Claude Casadesus. It has been led since September 2024 by Joshua Weilerstein, who is also its music director. The orchestra's main home venue is the Auditorium Jean-Claude Casadesus at the Nouveau Siècle in Lille.
The orchestra performs the symphonic repertoire and the operatic repertoire, the latter thanks to its collaboration with the Opéra de Lille, as well as contemporary music by hosting composers in residence. It regularly invites international conductors and soloists to bring the baroque, classical and contemporary repertoire to life.
