Overview

In partnership with the Bibliothèque Louise Walser-Gaillard, the Conservatoire presents an original project at the crossroads of the arts and cultures. Supported by LSF interpreter Périne Paniccia, the pupils experiment with new ways of conveying poetic emotion and making texts accessible to all audiences.

The stage becomes a space for experimentation, where the body tells, suggests and brings the imagination to life. This evening invites audiences to discover a collective work in progress, where gesture becomes speech and silence becomes theatrical material.

In partnership with the Bibliothèque Louise Walser-Gaillard, the Conservatoire Nadia et Lili Boulanger is hosting an artistic encounter around Deaf culture, sign language, mime and movement.

Drawing on a selection of poems, the pupils will explore different ways of bringing poetry to life: through voice, mime, movement and French Sign Language (LSF).

Interpreter in LSF, Périne Paniccia will guide the pupils through this process and work with them to raise their awareness of the specific features of LSF and of recreating texts in sign language.

Because poetry is not translated literally into LSF: it is recreated in space, through gesture, gaze, rhythm and movement. It is a true visual writing that offers another way of making words resonate.
