Lio

Lio, whose legal name is Vanda Maria Ribeiro Furtado Tavares de Vasconcelos, born 17 June 1962 in Mangualde (Portugal), is a Portuguese-Belgian Francophone singer and actress. She is the half-sister of singer Helena Noguerra.

She is notably known for her songs Le Banana split (1979), Amoureux solitaires (1980), Tétèoù ? in duet with Jacky (1984), Les brunes comptent pas pour des prunes (1986) and Fallait pas commencer (1986).

From the 1980s onwards, her career as an actress in cinema and television allowed her to interpret both dramatic and lighter roles. In cinema, several female directors such as Chantal Akerman, Catherine Breillat, Diane Kurys, Marion Vernoux, Aline Issermann offered her leading roles.

Lio is also present in less popular and more dramatic films such as Chambre à part in 1989, Jalousie in 1991 and Sans un cri the same year, before being found in several blockbusters such as Mariages ! by Valérie Guignabodet, Les Invisibles by Thierry Jousse and, in her own role as a singer, in Stars 80 and Stars 80, la suite. On television, she notably played in C'est la vie, camarade ! and Colette, une femme libre, in 2003.
